SHRED GUITARISTS - the BEST AND THE FASTEST

HOME

If you don't see the player you're looking for, try the rock guitarists page. For me shred is more than just fast. It's a musical style. So some players are shred fast, but play within a rock format. (or I might have them on the wrong page...dohh!)

= Artist links that were added on the last update

CYRIL ACHARD - A very talented rock/shred guitarist with serious jazz overtones. REALLY HOT!

A Rock/Metal shred guitarist with great songs and a killer attack that's outlawed in 13 states.  His first solo CD will suck you in and never let go. Everything from radio friendly rock (ala satch), to heavy metal (ala schenker), to extreme shred (ala stump). All played as if he were a veteran of these styles. If you're a fan of rock guitar with plenty of attitude.....visit Chris!

MICHAEL ANGELO - An intense, almost scary fast shred player. Michaels not just about speed though. The songs are well written and stand on their own.

  - A fiery shredder with a close eye on melody. Demi's songs are varied in style. He describes his music as METAL-JAZZ-ROCK-FUSION-SHRED GUITAR. That should give you an idea of his style. His songs are unique in structure. Making them fresh and memorable.

DAVE BATES/TOTAL GUITAR -     A serious shredder who is working on his debut instrumental c.d. Stop by and listen to the sound samples for a taste of what's coming up. Also check out the lessons and reviews.

JASON BECKER   - A really nice site devoted to one of guitars greatest players. His career was cut short by lou gherigs disease. But not before he got to grace us with his incredible playing (and compositions). HIS SOLO ALBUM IS A GOTTA HAVE!!  Be sure to check the Marty Friedman/Jason Becker webring for more on Jason. click HERE

JEAN-MARC BELKADI   -   A hot jazz/fusion player with a smmmoking band!

George is an absolutely smoking neo-shredder. And an equally impressive rock style player. George takes classically influenced shred into the future. That's something this genre has needed...THE BEST NEO-CLASSICAL SHREDDER I've heard. (look at my list. I've listened to more than a few)  He's working on his 3'rd instrumental release. Plus he was involved in several vocal projects that are also available. Check his sounds...

IVAN BERTOLA  - Australian Composer/Guitarist/Producer with a totally original style and approach to metal. He describes his music as "Imagine Progressive Instrumental Music With Adventurous Electric Guitar, Orchestras , Aggressive Choirs , Opera singers , Church organs , Western And Eastern Chants with a focus on Thematic Compositions". I checked out the sound samples at his site. And I really liked everything I heard. Still very much rockin'. But with a genuine almost gothic sort of flavor. Like nothing I've ever heard before. I can't wait to hear more. A True Original!

JOE BOCHAR  -  A very Hot heavy rock shredder.  And I mean  HOT!

JON BJORK -  21 yr. old neo/classical shredder from Sweden. This guy is a great player with equally great songs. He is currently working on his instrumental release. Stop by and check his sound page for a taste of what's to come. Also check out the Mankind ( http://www.mankind.nu/ ) web site. It's a metal vocal band Jon plays for.

MIKE CAMPESE - A very heavy shredder with serious jazz overtones and a deep rooted blues influence. Mike has a unique style that I was instantly drawn to. Mike Campese is an Original". Check out samples of his songs @ his site. You too will become an instant fan. I love melody driven shred. And this is the finest!

JOE CEFALU  -  This guy is a very versatile shredder.  And his songs are varied in influence.

 -  A fantastically tasteful & masterful rock/shred player. With great, ( very well written ) ;songs! His songs vary from calming acoustic, to radio friendly rock ( with a razor edge ), to wicked shred. T.D. plays it all masterfully. If you're a fan of radio friendly rock guitar ;songs ( i.e. joe satriani ). Then you should definitely check out T.D. Clark. With songs that are as radio friendly as Joe's ( I say more ). With an updated style and sound. And a harder edge to both the music and the guitar. I have both of TD's c.d.s ( hey that rhymes ). And they both became instant favorites. I am now a huge fan of the man. With songs that vary in influence. And a playing style I like to call "beautifully aggressive

MARCEL COENEN - A very (emphasize very) hot rock/shredder. With smokin' well written memorable songs. Definitely a player you should check out!

RUSTY COOLEY - An impressive shredder with an equally impressive bio.

MICHAEL DAKSIEWICZ  - A very talented metal guitarist. After hearing his music (he played all the instruments)(and I mean played them. this isn't one of those, lay down a track and thanks to the marvel of computers, voila you have a whole band recordings.), you'll want to buy his c.d. The fact that he's an incredible guitarist draws you in at first. And truly impressive compositions is what hooks you and makes you an instant fan.........

TODD DENLINGER 'S MP3.COM SITE    - Todd's a smoking player who combines rock, jazz, funk, and orchestral instruments. Todd is the most musically diverse shredder I've heard.

DAN EGAN - A fantastic well rounded guitarist. With intense well written songs. Dan's acoustic songs are soothing and always soulful. Good for the mind, good for the soul. Dan's electric songs are absolutely red hot. And can he rip! Whether he's playing acoustic, new age, or shredding on some killer rock tune, Dan shines. (like a blinding light) This is one very talented musician!

MIKAEL ERIKSSON  - an absolutely incredible shred guitarist that draws from many different influences (yngwie malmsteen, david gilmour, ritchie blackmore, rory gallagher) to create a very hot original sound and style. Not only is Mikael a very talented player, his songs are intricate and elaborately composed. Each a little different style from the other. The variety in styles from song to song keeps Mikael's music fresh even after repeated listens.

AL ESTRADA -    AL IS A SCREAAAMING ROCK/SHREDDER with a unique flavor, original style and sound. This is some Hot Sh*t!.....

FRANCESCO FARERI - Francesco brings shred to a higher level. (much higher) With extreme intricate compositions and speeds that transcend most shredders.

KEVIN FERGUSON - An unbelievable classical based shred guitar virtuoso.

LAURENT FLEURY -  A talented shred guitarist from France. And being from france you can hear the different influences in his music.

 - A French guitar virtuoso!  A truely talented shred style guitarist with a very original style and sound.. You can hear different influences in his music.  This keeps it fresh even after many listens.  Stephan has an instrumental C.D. out, and one on the way. Plus the band Adagio, a vocal band Stephan is part of. Is releasing their first C.D. And both are full of extreme intense shredding. Stephan's playing is "beautifully aggressive". Never shredding for the sake of speed alone. And always keeping it musical. INTENSE!

ADAM FOX -  a great fusion/rock player (like vai meets mclaughlin)

AN INCREDIBLE SHRED BAND - An instrumental trio  featuring guitarist extraordinaire Dr. Frankenshred. And the doctor has just what you need. An over the edge attack at speeds that are sometimes frightening (but be brave). Dr. Frankenshred is more than just a killer player. His songs are very well composed with an original sound that's all his own. With a perfect blend of rock and metal rhythms. In the shred kingdom there are so many wannabe's and imitators. It's refreshing to hear a shredder find his own thing. The band has put out two all instrumental c.d.'s.   A re-release of their debut cassette now on c.d. & a new release titled "Evil Shred".  And just because the band bears the good doctors name, don't think it's just a showcase for him. With fellow assailants World War Spencer on bass &  Kelly Knight on drums there's plenty off bone shattering drums and bass.  These 3 guys bring shred to an new height for the new millennium. I have both C.D.'s and I had to clear another space on my guitar hero's mantle for the Dr.   Take my advice-sell your other c.d.'s to get money and buy their's...thanks to Dr. Frankenshred (you the man!)(no,really, you the man!)

MARTY FRIEDMAN/JASON BECKER WEBRING

FRANK GAMBALE  - INCREDIBLE JAZZ/ROCK/FUSION GUITARIST

RICKY GARCIA   - Oh Yea, a hot heavy rock shredder who steps just outside the typical rock guitar format, in the same vein as Steve Vai. Blending different influences effortlessly in a style that's Ricky's own. This is what original shred rock guitar is all about!

JEFF GARNER - A very talented player, that I really like. This guy play's from the melodic neo/classical to the most intense over the edge shred.

BRETT GARSED  -  An absolutely smokin', ripping guitarist with a very jazz like style all his own

 -  A deeply melodic shred guitarist. Andy's a shred maniac that becomes a shred monster at the drop of a dime. With intricate compositions showing Andy is more than a speed freak!

PAUL GILBERTS TERRIFYING GUITAR SITE

BRODERICK GRAY - A heavy metal/neo-classical shredder. Great songs that have a good mix of both influences. Broderick has 2 c.d.'s available. One is instrumental & one is with a vocalist. Both Rock!

TODD GRUBBS  This is a very cool & elaborate site for an incredible player. You can check out his entire c.d. in real audio. After hearing it, you'll want to but it! This guy is one of the best non/neo shredders that I've come across in a long time.

MICHAEL HARRIS - A truly amazing progressive/metal/fusion player. With tasteful, intricate compositions. And a close eye on melody. Michael's music both soothes and stimulates. In a style I call beautifully/aggressive. Sometimes laying down some of the meanest guitar you've heard. But doing it with finese and beauty. I became an instant fan!

HOWARD HART  - killer, aggressive, beautiful, articulate and yes he can shred.

CHRIS HATTINGH - A really hot and talented player. The new album is a tongue-in-cheek spoof on 10 of the greatest guitar legends of the last century, and promises to turn some heads in the guitar world! Check out the sounds from the shred head c.d. This guy's great!

HESS - A very impressive trio that features 2 great guitarists. A steaming shredder Tom Hess ( who also carries the bass & keys duties ) & hot shredder accomplice Mike Walsh. Intense shredding with calming beauty! (Something up until now only Yngwie had mastered.) This isn't simply a shred fest however. The songs are also a strong point with Hess. With nicely written songs & musical styles that vary. This c.d. can be listened to over and over again without getting old and stale.

MATHIAS HOLM  -   A great Swedish  neoclassical guitarist(you didn't think yngwie was the only one?) Mathias plays all the guitar, bass, keyboard, and drum programming. But pretty much it will appeal to the popular jazz music fan, to the blues fan, to the rock fan. Heck, even the ceiling fan would love it....If you check out one new artist this year. It should be Scott Lerner!!!!

- A seasoned player of  "Beautifully Aggressive Melodic Metal," with none of the cliche phrases that make most classical influenced (or neo-classical ) players sound the same. With a writing and playing style that's her own, she takes classically influenced metal in a new and fresh direction.

TONY MACALPINE - A molten hot guitarist that has made a few style changes over time. From neo/classical to rock. And now he's mastered a avante garde jazz fusion style . This man is unbelievable.

MAJESTIC  -  An impressive Swedish five-piece progressive neo-classical vocal band. The band is based around phenom keyboardist Richard Andersson. So there's plenty of smokin' keys to go with the guitar. I really like this band. Be sure to check them out!
